Happy holidays!

How is your holiday going?

Nicole is getting ready to go to Timaru to visit her family and to go to her nephew's 21st...and probably doing lots of packing and thinking about what to take to Hawaii and Alaska!

Diane is in Australia visiting her family and hopefully missing out on our cold weather...

Tracy and her family have been on a holiday to the Marlborough Sounds where they saw lots of different fish and ate some kaimoana.

We didn't eat this crab though...he was a bit little.

Next week they are going to Auckland to see How to Train Your Dragon. There might be some Freeville families there too!

If you want, you can email Tracy about your holiday (and maybe include a photo) and we can share it here on the blog. :-)

Have a great time!

Ruma Tuarua: rubbish collectors!

For our statistics this week we have been collecting very yucky data: we have spent two days picking up rubbish around the school.
Some rubbish was even in the top of the bushes!

We found a lot of rubbish, but we realised that it wasn't very much considering we spent two days finding it around the entire school...
We have been sorting it into piles:
  • chip packets
  • moosie and juicy wrappers
  • other plastic (like spoons, other wrappers, gladwrap)
  • food rubbish - apple cores, orange peels
  • garden stuff like bark or leaves
  • foil wrappers
  • paper rubbish
  • other/miscellaneous
The children have decided we need to get rid of rubbish in our school -- and we don't want to pick it all up ourselves! So we are going to write a notice to go around the school and make some signs and stick them up in places where people eat their lunch...to say that we are Freeville Flyers who care for our school and we don't litter!
